  Jeremy DeWeerdt

Pastor of Rockford Assembly of God

  Rockford Master's Director

  MCIN Board Member

Jeremy and Jennifer DeWeerdt In 1993, Jeremy founded the Rockford Master’s Commission and young adults began to come from around the nation to learn how to be a disciple of Christ and influence their culture. The 2007-08 year will mark the 15th anniversary of RMC. With close to 1000 alumni all over the world, RMC has become one of the largest Master’s Commissions in the world and a model of discipleship across the nation. In 1995, Jeremy was asked to become the Co-Director of Cross Current Student Ministries with Jeanne Mayo. His assignment was to preach 50% of the time, assist with youth retreats, and help facilitate the overall vision of the ministry. Under their leadership, God blessed Cross Current as a national model for youth ministries. While attending Cross Current, Jeremy met Jennifer Johnson and they were married at First Assembly in 1995. Beginning in 1994, Jen worked for Christian Life as the High School Secretary for one year and then as the Athletic Secretary for one year. In 1996, she became the Assistant Director of the Rockford Master’s Commission, assisting with female discipleship, administration, and finances. Jen has always had a passion for the marginalized and underprivileged. To sit down and have a conversation with her would reveal her love for people and her desire to see the church make a difference in those who are hurt and broken. In 1995, Jeremy helped established the Master’s Commission International Network along with, founder, Lloyd Zeigler. This non-profit organization is based out of Phoenix, Arizona and helps promote the Master’s Commission movement around the world. In addition, in 2004 Jeremy co-founded the Master’s Commission European network, giving oversight to all the programs in Europe. In 2001, Jeremy and Jen were asked to assume the Student Ministry Director position over Cross Current Ministries. Along with an incredible team of leaders, Jeremy and Jen were able to see God grow the ministry to reach over 1,000 middle school, high school, and college-aged students each week. Jeremy travels the world speaking at various youth events, conventions, leadership conferences, and churches. Recently, God has opened doors in Europe, allowing Jeremy to assist multiple countries in the European Union to form Master’s Commission programs. On April 29, 2007, Jeremy and Jen DeWeerdt were elected as Lead Pastor of Rockford First Assembly of God church in Rockford, IL. Jeremy will remain Executive Director and Founder of the Rockford Master’s Commission. For those who know them best, they will testify that Jeremy and Jen have a deep compassion for those far from faith and are passionate about Biblical discipleship, along with launching leaders to influence their culture. They believe the local church should be reaching out in every area of our community to make an impact with Christ-like love and compassion. They believe that the Bible is relevant and alive; and the Spirit of God will change lives if we, as Christ-followers, “will preach always. Use words if necessary.” (Quote: St Francis Assisi).
